graduation graphic day two

Welcome to  DAY TWO in my series “Time to Create for the Graduate Using Design Space” where each day I am creating new projects using the Graduation Category images in Design Space.  If you don’t know how to find the Graduation Category in Design Space, check out my video HERE.   And don’t miss DAY ONE in the series for Cards for the graduate HERE.

DAY TWO: Unique Gifts for the Graduate  The graduate deserves a gift to celebrate their big achievement, right?  And I like to give something the graduate can really use and make it something a little more unique than most.  Today I am sharing a project I hope will be memorable and something the graduate will appreciate.

 GRADUATE MONEY BOX:

Graduation Money Box Graphic

To start this project, I took a box shape from the Wrap It up Cartridge (click link to see cartridge images) in the Graduation Category in Design Space  and used it as the basis for the Graduate Money Gift Box.  The basic box was kind of plain, just the two graduation caps on only two sides of the box.  But to add more pizazz and make it truly memorable, I added more image phrases from the Graduation Category. I sized the box so it would fit on a 12X12 sheet of paper and sized the matching phrase embellishments to fit the top and sides of the box.  I even created two liners for the inside of the original box cut out using the Insert Shapes Free images in Design Space. All cardstock I used for this project is CTMH Cardstock that cuts perfectly in the Cricut Explore.  You can find the Design Space file I created below if you wish to re-create the box for your graduate.

Take a look at the finished box sides to see how fun this project turned out.  You could make it any colors you prefer.

Graduate Money Box 1Each of the Phrases I used for embellishments are layered images I cut out using CTMH Cardstock and glued together.  I used foam pop dots  to add them to the sides of the box.

I added some CTMH Enamel Stars to the Embellishment Phrases for some added fun...every graduate is the star of their graduation, right ?

Graduate Money Box 3

I added a handmade enamel dot to the graduation cap.  I made enamel dots melting perler beads (stay tuned for another video on that at a later time). You could use store bought enamel dots or even a brad top if you prefer. The adhesive I used fro this project includes Scor Tape, Zig 2 Way Glue PenFoam Dots and Glue Dots Mini (click on link to see and purchase).

Now for the exciting part of why I called this a Graduate Money Box

Graduate Money Box 4

To represent little diplomas, roll up dollar bills of your choice of denomination to give your graduate and tie with red ribbon and place in the box.  What graduate doesn’t love getting money to spend on whatever they prefer….stuff for their dorm room, help paying for books and supplies or even Pizza !

Watch today’s video on making the Graduate Money Box gift and learn a few tips I share about putting together the project.
