graduation graphic day one

Today is the first  day in a series of 5 days of  Create for the Graduates Using Cricut Design Space to make something special for your graduate.   All the projects I am making for this series include images found in the Graduation Category of Cricut Design Space.  If you didn’t watch my video on finding the Graduation Category and what all is included, you can watch it HERE.   Stay tuned over the next five days to see graduation projects  including cards, gifts, gift wrap and even party decor that are guaranteed to let your graduate know how proud you are of them.

Day One :  Cards for the Graduate
Today’s projects are focused on cards for your graduate.  A store bought card just won’t do to celebrate the accomplishments of your special graduate. And the beauty of these cards is they will take only a few minutes to put together.  I will even share the design space project file I used to create the cards so all you have to do is grab the file and open in Design Space and start cutting !

CUSTOM CONGRATS CARD:
This Custom Congrats Card uses a beautiful cut out background as the base that is from the Decorate! Celebrate ! Cartridge (click link to see).   If you have not checked out that cartridge you should do so.It’s exclusive to Design Space Subscribers through May and then available for purchase.  Lots of great images on it.  I selected CTMH cardstock in the colors of graduate’s school for fun.   The Congrats cut out I did using a foil technique with toner paper and a laminate machine but you could use regular cardstock or metallic cardstock to add that touch to your card.  I used a homemade enamel dot to the graduation cap but you could use a store bought one or brad top.

To customize the card, I added the graduates name.  Note: If you use the Design Space file I share below, just click on the text box and change the name to your graduates name.

To add dimension, I used pop dots to raise the white oval on top of the red oval and then layered the graduation cap with another pop dot.   I just LOVE using pop dots on my projects.

And of course, the inside of the card deserved some attention too.  This fun “YOU DID IT !” image from the Happy Graduation Cartridge (click link to see)  really added that extra touch I wanted for the inside.   I created a liner to use for sentiment out of the same yellow cardstock to match the backing piece for the front of the card.     Note: I sized this card to fit inside a 5X7 Sized envelop of your choice.

This card  fun to design mostly from images in the Graduation Category of Design Space.  Its kind of fun to just pull images that all relate to one another in one of the Design Space categories.

I am serious, this card took just a few minutes to put together. The card is from the Simple Everyday Cards cartridge (click link to see it)  which has some great designed cards.  To make this card, I used CTMH cardstock for the base and some silver glitter paper for the inside. Tip:  To adhere the glitter cardstock to the inside of the card, I some CTMH Liquid Glass Glue. It’s fast drying, clear and adheres glitter cardstock perfectly.

I added a few CTMH Enamel Stars to the front of the card.  On the inside of the card I added a white liner for the sentiment using a shape from the new feature in Design Space “Insert Shapes” that are all FREE images you can grab quickly. Making a special card for your graduate could not be any faster than this !
