Like most crafters, I love to see the spaces where others create. What they surround themselves with to inspire, how they store their supplies, tips they share on inexpensive storage ideas and more. I love it all. So I wanted to return the favor and share my Craft Studio too.

View as you walk in my Craft Studio space this is what you seeCraft Studio entry

My craft studio is in a large shared space that’s a converted garage attached to my home. My studio part is approximately 14X16 feet. Behind those curtains are storage shelves for household items, on the other side of my studio is open space for my hubby’s genealogy research desk area and French doors out to the backyard patio. There is a TV mounted on the opposite wall to my desk. I am looking for a shelving unit to add to the wall to display more of my creative projects in my space.

Craft Studio Table

my craft studio 2

My craft studio table is a former solid oak dining room table. It’s a perfect size for me to spread out and still have a guest scrapper on the other side. I love the large monitor anduse my laptop here too. My scrap tool tote is on a rotating base and at my finger tips with my most used tools. I prefer to sit when I scrap so I have a nice cushy office chair that swivels and adjusts for maximum comfort.

Die Cut Machines

die cut machines

I created an “U-shaped” desk area by adding a 4 foot folding table next to my oak craft table where I have my die cut machines handy. My tool kit, planner and die cut reference manual are close at hand too.I have a 4 drawer storage until under the table for office supplies, etc. The white stationary box holds extra scissors, notepads and pens, file folders for memorabilia I want to scrap.

Small Embellishment Storage

misc mini embellishment storage

Above my 4 ft table is a wood shelf that I use for small embellishments and display area.  (That pathetic looking stuffed animal is “puppy”. He is my oldest possession from when I was a child. His fur is worn and his nose long gone but I like having him as my Craft Studio mascot).

More Storage Near Desk

cabinet behind chair area

Next to the 4 ft folding table is a two door cabinet where I store my extra Silhouette Supplies, Xyron machines and refills, reference binders, and my alcohol ink storage. On top of the cabinet is my little inspiration pin board, a post it note holder I made out of a clear acrylic photo frame and my pink tub for my washi.

Washi Tape Storage

washi storage up close

Here is my Washi storage.  It is a big PINK metal bin. I have a ton of washi and love to dig around in my bin to find just the right washi to use on a project.

Craft Studio Storage Wall

curtain wall area

Here is my view from sitting in my cushy chair. Directly under my drink holder is a 4 drawer unit that holds spare adhesives, pop dots, glues and embossing powders, glitter, etc. Looking at the storage wall left to right. My Craft Magazines and books are in the first couple of shelves. The closed cabinet holds my Vinyl and miscellaneous art supplies and aerosol sprays like clear acrylic, etc that I don’t use as much. On top of the shelves I have three tiered metal baskets mounted on wooden lazy susan so they can spin easily. The green one on the left holds my Maya Road bits and pieces in cute metal tins. The black one on the right holds my wood mounted stamps. I have a large clipboard on a stand that holds my latest scrapbook layouts that I switch out based on season.

Photo Storage

photos by category

This shelf holds photo boxes and baskets of my printed photos sorted by category. I will often order a large amount of photos printed at one time and sort them into these boxes until ready to scrap them. The baskets hold spare single photos I didn’t scrap but might do an un-related scrapbook page that I need a quick photo to use or share with my granddaughter who likes to scrap with me.

Punch Storage

punches by type

All of my punches are stored in these plastic bins an sorted by type. Large shapes, Miscellaneous Shapes, Borders, Martha Stewart Sets. The albums hold some of my most recent scrapbook pages. That extra plastic box under the album holds some speciality trims and ribbons that I can grab and take to a crop.

Tall Shelf Storage

tall shelving storage

The tall shelving unit from top to bottom. Baskets on top shelf hold my Thickers , sorted by color. The second shelf holds mini alphabet stickers, glittered chipboard swirls, mixed media items, Sizzix Big Kick plates, etc. The green box holds my spare die cut shapes left over from projects. When I need a quick card made, I grab the box and can usually find just the thing. The third shelf holds  baskets where I store my 6X6 pads, card making embellishments and supplies. The fourth shelf holds CTMH Stamps in pink metal basket on left, Miscellaneous large acrylic stamps in green basket and WRMK Envelop Maker. To the right of that is the thin metal die storage case by Art Bin. Fifth shelf holds the green basket where I store new embellishments still in there packages. (once I open and use something from these, I then assimilate into the overall storage spaces in my craft studio). Next to that is my Sizzix Big Kick.  And then my stack of 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock. The bottom shelf holds Sterlite boxes with Tim Holtz supplies, Square 1 Masterpiece Adhesive Fabric, Travel themed supplies, and items other boxes I use for taking projects to crops.

6X6 Pad Storage

6x6 pads

As you can see, the 6X6 pads fit in here perfectly and hold a bunch of pads. I even store matching embellishments for the 6X6 pads with them since I often use these for card making.

Cricut Cartridge Storage

Cricut Storage

To the right of the tall shelves is an area I call my die cut and embossing station. On a wall mounted shelf are plastic bins where I store my Cricut Carts and my speciality flower packs.

Cricut Storage booklets

The Booklets are sorted in the top bin in alphabetical order and stored with their matching keypad inside the first page of the booklet.

Cricut Carts

In the bottom section I store the matching cartridges for that set underneath in alphabetical order. I used a sharpie marker to write the cart name on top to see easier.

Packaged Flower Storage

flower storage

The other two bins hold my large collection of flower packs by Prima, Recollections, Petaloo, etc.

Ribbons

ribbon storage

As you can see, I have a my ribbon hanging from below the shelf. I used a bamboo pole we had in the garage. I used binder rings and safety pins to attach to ribbons to the rings and then placed on the pole. Each Binder Ring is sorted by color and/or ribbon/trim type. It is easy to quickly take down a ring of ribbon over to my table to match a project OR I have pair of scissors hanging from the pole for quick snips.

Binding and Embossing Station

embossing and binding station

On the shelf below the ribbon is my Cinch, Cuttlebug and plates and Embossing folders.

Embossing Folder Storage

embossing folder storage

With over 100 embossing folders, I needed a way to store them. I used these photo boxes which fit the folders perfectly. I store them in alphabetical order.

embossing folder marking

Each folder name is written with a Sharpie marker and a piece of scotch tape added over the top so it does not rub off.

embossing tags

With that many embossing folders, it would take forever to flip through all the folders. So I have embossed each folder on a tag. I write the name of the folder, manufacturer and size on the back of the tag.  They are then stored in alphabetical order on binder rings, hanging from an extra large ring. I keep these hanging from that shelf above my die cut machine area I showed earlier so I can grab them easy when sitting at my desk.

E2 and tote storage Under the Embossing and Binding area on the shelves, I have my E2, then underneath the Cinch binding wires stored in that red/black tote bag (which I can tote my Cinch to crops if needed), my Your Story binding machines and some canvas supplies. Next to that I have my XXL rolling tote and my die cut machine rolling tote.

mat storage

On the side of the built in shelving unit I have this hanging canvas pocket holder. I keep various supplies for my die cut machines here. Also a few items for my stamping such  my apron, and some cardboard mats I use for inking and glittering projects.  Above the hanging pocket holder is where I store my mats for both my Cricut and my Silhouette.

Stamping Station

stamp station

Next to that area is my only built in shelves in my room. My Stamping Station is in the first set of shelves. My hubby added a larger extended shelf so I could use it as my Stamping Station. I keep a Ranger Craft Mat taped down along side a stamping pad. My Acrylic stamps are stored in cd cases and sorted by type. My ink pads are stored on an old wooded cassette case that a friend found for me at a garage sale for dirt cheap. It fits the pads perfectly and has plenty of room for extra ink pads as I accrue them. My Acrylic blocks, stamp ink pens and wet wipes are stored on top of the ink holder. The revolving four tiered  tray holds my mists, spray inks, paint daubers, frequently used stickles and mixed media paints, brushes, etc. That tray is from Harbor Freight and costs less than $25. It holds so much, just love it.

Patterned Paper Storage

patterned paper storage2

My Patterned Paper and projects are stored in these baskets underneath the stamping area. Loose patterned paper and collections are stored in 12X12 Storage folders found at major craft stores. I use the Recollection brand ones from Michaels that come in a set of 10. The paper is sorted in the baskets by either favorite manufacturer (Echo Park, Teresa Collins, etc. or by theme Pets, Cooking, Sports, etc.  All my bound paper pads are stored in one pink bin you see on the bottom that is slightly pulled out to show you. As the bound pads dwindle, I either put them in a storage folder OR assimilate into a theme set. My unfinished projects or supplies I bought for a specific project are stored in the folders and in a bin as well. Makes it easy to grab a project or two when I need something quick to work on.

Miscellaneous Tools and Embellishment Storage

The shelving set next to Stamping Station holds on the top shelf 12X12 Sterlite boxes of supplies sorted by holidays. The second shelf holds miscellaneous paper cutters, Martha Stewart Score Boards, Creative Memories Circle Cutter, Glass Cutting Mat, etc.(not shown)

The third shelf holds stickles, cats eye inks, paints, and small embellishment storage holders.

Wet Ink Storage

small embellishment cases

I have a lot of my embellishments sorted by type in these small storage containers. Its easy just to grab what I want and take over to my craft table to see what looks best on my project.

tool storage The third shelf (as you see above) holds storage bins and sorted by type of item such as journaling spots, tags, empherma, bingo cards, tickets, twine, metal embellishments, rub ons, stickers, large bling packages, decorative tape. On top of that I store miscellaneous tools like embossing gun, notch tool, anywhere punch and setter, etc.

12X12 Cardstock and Chipboard Storage

cardstock scraps blank albums

The next shelf holds my 12X12 cardstock stored in Cropper Hopper Paper Holders but turned on their sides so they are open to help get my paper out faster. All cardstock is sorted by color and type like glitter, shimmer, specialty, etc. My cardstock scraps are kept by color in the first two Cropper Hopper Paper Holders in 12X12 page protectors. Its easy to keep all different sizes of scraps and they are my “go to” place when I use my die cut machines.

The bottom shelf holds a basket of blank chipboard albums and boxes, etc for altered projects. The box (which needs to be converted to a cute basket, right? ) holds blank chipboard in various sizes and shapes. And a spare album next to that.

That’s It Folks …Hope you enjoyed the tour of my Craft Studio.  As I am sure you know, it is always a work in progress and things change but so far this set up has worked well for me. I liked it better after I added the patterned paper to the storage bins and color coordinated the baskets. It just seems more restful to my eye and cheerful place to scrap.
